Refund Policy
This page sits alongside our Terms of Service and explains one thing in full: when you get your money back. It is written to be read before you pay, not after.
Nothing is charged until the folio exists
The single most important protection here is structural rather than contractual. You are not asked to pay when you submit a request. We assess the address, build the folio, and only then send a payment link. If the registered evidence is too thin to support a defensible offer bracket, we tell you what does exist, explain why the threshold was not met, and never send a payment link at all. Most of what other services would handle as a refund, we handle by not taking the money.
What you paid
The price is a fixed £480, regardless of where you are billed from — for a UK buyer that is a £400 fee plus £80 VAT at 20%. A refund is always the full £480 you paid. Dodo Payments is our Merchant of Record, so refunds are issued by Dodo Payments back to the card or account you paid from.
When a refund is due
You are entitled to a refund in each of the following situations.
- The Folio is not delivered. If payment clears and no folio link reaches you, or the link does not work and we cannot fix it within a reasonable time of you telling us, you get a full refund.
- The Folio is not as described. If what arrives is materially different from what these pages and your order confirmation said you were buying — a missing section, or an address that is not the one you commissioned — you get a full refund.
- Something in the Folio doesn't work. If a page won't load, doesn't render correctly, or contains an error that affects its conclusions, tell us and we'll fix it within a reasonable time. If we can't, you get a full or partial refund depending on what you were left with.
- You were charged twice, or charged the wrong amount. Refunded in full without argument.
When a refund is not due
We would rather be plain about this than bury it.
- Change of mind after delivery. A Folio is digital content supplied on payment. Before you pay, you expressly consent to supply beginning immediately and acknowledge that you thereby lose the statutory 14-day cancellation right — see clause 7 of the Terms of Service. That acknowledgement is the reason we can research the folio in full before asking for any money.
- The conclusion was not the one you hoped for. A Folio that tells you the asking price is defensible, or that the evidence gives you little leverage, has done its job. The output is not a promise of a discount.
- A public dataset was wrong or out of date at source. A Folio reports what the register showed at the stated extraction date, and names that date in every section. Tell us anyway — we would want to know, and if the error is ours rather than the publisher's, the situations above apply.
- Your purchase fell through. The research was still performed on the address you commissioned.
How to request one
Email team@settleiq.co.uk within 14 days of delivery, quoting your folio reference and describing the problem. You do not need to use any particular form of words. We will acknowledge within two working days and investigate.
Where a refund is agreed, we instruct Dodo Payments to issue it within 5 working days of that decision. Dodo Payments then returns the money by the original payment method; how quickly it appears depends on your bank or card issuer, typically 5 to 10 working days. You can also raise a payment, invoicing or refund matter with Dodo Payments directly as Merchant of Record.
Your statutory rights
Nothing on this page reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other consumer-protection law that applies to you. Where this policy and those rights differ, those rights win.
